Rey Mysterio has revealed that he has a “couple of tricks” ready for the WWE Intercontinental Championship ladder match at WrestleMania 42.
Making his return from injury earlier this month, Rey Mysterio will join Je’Von Evans, Dragon Lee, JD McDonagh and Rusev as they seek to seize the WWE Intercontinental Championship from Penta on Night 2 of WrestleMania 42.
With that match taking place on Sunday, April 19, Mysterio revealed his tactics as he attempts to become a three-time WWE Intercontinental Champion during an appearance on ESPN SportsCenter, saying:
“I’m ready for Sunday. I’ve been ready for about two weeks now, and I can’t wait.
“I’ve got butterflies in my stomach right now. Once they told me I was in a ladder match, I got excited, then I thought about it, like, wait a minute, this is a ladder match!
“But, the prize is worth the risk. Intercontinental Champion, which I’ve been twice already, so, you know, I’ve put all the harm aside, go out there focused and make sure I can get that title on Sunday night.”

Mysterio would comment on his experience compared to that of the other stars in the match, hinting that he has some tricks at his disposal, stating:
“I’ve been doing (this) for over four decades now, so I think, out of all the competitors in my match, I think I have the most experience. So, I’m going to pull a couple of tricks (out from) up my sleeve to make sure I get that win.
“I’ll make them do all the hard work. I’ve just gotta climb and unstrap that title from that hook that’s hanging, what, twenty feet above the ring.”

Rey would also reveal that he’s looking forward to watching his son face Finn Balor on Sunday night at WrestleMania 42, having warned the former Judgment Day member about Dominik previously. According to Rey, Finn is ready to teach the Judgment Day member a lesson.
Rey Mysterio Returns At WWE WrestleMania
Since returning to WWE in 2018, Rey Mysterio has seen action at WrestleMania 35, 38, 39, and 40, with his last outing being a tag team victory with Andrade over Dominik Mysterio & Santos Escobar.
With WrestleMania appearances dating back to 2003, Rey Mysterio has demonstrated that he’s a master of the match type, be it singles action, the WWE Cruiserweight Open of WrestleMania 20, or tag team matches.
Titles have played a part in Mysterio’s WrestleMania story, with a victory over JBL to become the WWE Intercontinental Champion in 2009 in his history.
Last competing in the men’s Royal Rumble match back in January, a ladder match is quite the way to bring back any star, let alone a six man.
Mysterio turned 51 years of age in December of last year and shows few signs of calling time on his WWE career, though previously shared a conversation he had with John Cena after the now-retired star’s final match on Raw.
