A released WWE star has opened up on their ‘tough’ year ahead of their return to the ring next month against an AEW star.
Back in May 2025, a number of WWE stars were released from the company, which included former Women’s Tag Team Champion Dakota Kai.
Dakota has not wrestled a match since her WWE release, but her return match was announced back in December, with her set to face AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander at Pro Wrestling EVE’s Wrestle Queendom 8 show on March 8 in London.
At today’s EVE show, Dakota, now under her new ring name Charlie, appeared in a video package ahead of her return, where she reflected on the past year of her career.
She said:
“This past year’s been tough. I’ve had so much doubt about my place in wrestling but this opportunity? It’s reigniting my passion and I’m more certain than ever.
“Sunday, March 8 at the Indigo 02, I’m charge of my own story. And my opponent? Someone I’ve watched for years and has consistently blown me away.
“Kris, you’re impressive, strong and one hell of a champion but you’re in my crosshairs now. I’ll see you soon Pro Wrestling EVE.”
