Penta To Defend WWE Intercontinental Championship In AAA

WWE Intercontinental Champion Penta is set to defend the Intercontinental Championship in AAA for the first time ever.

After capturing the WWE Intercontinental Championship, Penta has defended the title against a number of challengers, including Dragon Lee and El Grande Americano, while more continue to chase him, most notably Je’von Evans.

Penta is set to defend the title in an open challenge tomorrow night on Raw, but should he make it through that match with the title, he has another defence already lined up, this one outside of WWE’s main roster.

Penta To Defend WWE Intercontinental Championship In AAA

On tonight’s AAA Rey de Reyes night three event, El Hijo del Vikingo came to the ring, addressing his loss to Dominik Mysterio two weeks ago on the show.

Vikingo would go on to say that he has a new goal in mind, and that’s Penta and the WWE Intercontinental Championship, before calling out the champion.

Penta would come to the ring, where he exchanged in a war of words with Vikingo, before accepting his challenge for the upcoming AAA show in Mexico City on April 11.

This match marks the first time ever that the WWE Intercontinental Championship will be defended in AAA.

Who Should Face Penta At WrestleMania 42?

With Penta set to walk into WrestleMania 42 as the Intercontinental Champion, there are a number of names potentially in line to face him for the title in Las Vegas.

Among those names are names Penta has already defended against, but there are more challengers waiting for him as previously mentioned.

With Sami Zayn vs. Trick Williams announced for the United States Championship on SmackDown, that would leave an open spot for Raw’s midcard championship to be defended in a multi-man affair.

The names currently circling the title include Penta, Dragon Lee, both the Original and current El Grande Americano, Je’von Evans, Dominik Mysterio and Finn Balor, while the latter two seem destined for a singles clash at WrestleMania.

As such, WWE opting to run a multi-man match featuring the other names, as well as potentially other names without a match thus far such as LA Knight and Gunther, would be a nice addition to the WrestleMania card to showcase as many talents as possible from the Raw midcard.
