An NXT star is present at tonight’s July 6 edition of WWE Raw emanating from Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois.
On a night of title matches including Sami Zayn vs Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Title, there’s some news before Raw even gets underway.
WWE regularly tapes matches for its weekly Main Event YouTube show prior to Raw and SmackDown broadcasts, which sometimes showcase NXT talents in front of a main roster audience.
That was the case tonight, as the Main Event taping included a match between Ivy Nile and NXT star Lizzy Rain.
Rain is one of the newest stars on NXT TV, only signing with WWE last year after taking part in tryouts with other indie wrestlers from the UK and Europe.
The other match taped for Main Event, both of which will likely air on this week’s episode on Thursday, was Je’Von Evans vs Grayson Waller.
Lizzy Rain & The Influx Of Talent In NXT
It’s been a period of overhaul in NXT over the past few months as top stars from both the men’s and women’s division joining the WWE main roster.
This has led to not just new signings but new signings who debuted on TV in record time, including European stars like the aforementioned Lizzy Rain, Mason Rook, Romeo Moreno, Dorian Van Dux and others.
Rain has stood out in short order with her unique personality already catching plenty of attention, though she hasn’t had a major rise to the main event scene as of yet.
It seems like she’s settling more into the North American Title scene, and is quite likely to challenge Zaria for that championship some time soon, potentially at WWE NXT Heatwave in August.
