TNA Wrestling’s Nic Nemeth has opened up on adjusting to the wrestling world after leaving WWE after almost 20 years.
Nic Nemeth (Dolph Ziggler) had spent almost 20 years as part of the WWE system prior to his release from the company in 2023.
Following his departure, Nemeth has competed in numerous companies, most notably TNA Wrestling, where he is a former TNA World Champion.
Nic Nemeth’s Continued Success Following WWE Release
Speaking to Youngstown Studio, Nemeth opened up on adjusting to the wrestling world outside of WWE after almost 20 years, and the importance of him finally facing off with Hiroshi Tanahashi.
He said:
“I’ve never done independent wrestling before I came to WWE, I just came from college wrestling and what I watched on TV, getting a tryout and making it happen.
“So getting a chance now, to go all over the world, there’s so many people. Tanahashi, of New Japan and Japanese history. For years I thought I would never get a chance to get in the ring with this guy.
“For years Vince told me ‘you’ll work here for 25 years, then we’re gonna work you behind the scenes and you’re gonna help people out’, I said ‘I’d love it, all for it’, and I just thought there’s all these guys out there, some guys in Mexico, some guys all over the world, Germany, Europe, and I’m like ‘do I get a chance to do this before it’s all over with, let me get a shot at this’.
“So I got to go out and be in the ring with Tanahashi a two years before he had his final match, it’s just things like that getting me prepared for a different life. I was in a bubble of 20 years with some of the greatest of all time, but it was the same 100, 120 people, now I get to branch out, go all over the world, every city, every state has multiple independents, big ones, little ones, and you get out there and see ‘who’s this young up and comer, lets see if he can hang with me’. Lets see if I can hang with him speed wise, and I am famously untouchable when it comes to stamina, so I’ll always have that just in case.”

Will Dolph Ziggler Return To WWE?
With Nemeth currently working with TNA Wrestling, we could see him make return appearance on NXT television, akin to other TNA names in the past such as Mike Santana, Joe Hendry and Jordynne Grace.
Nemeth made a return appearance under his old Dolph Ziggler ring name as part of the John Cena Last Time Is Now Tournament in November, where he lost in the first round to Solo Sikoa.
With Matt Cardona, who appeared as Zack Ryder in the tournament, officially returning to the company earlier this year, the door will likely always be open for Nemeth to return to WWE.
With a new crop of talent on the rise in WWE, such as Je’von Evans, Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams, there are plenty of new faces for Nemeth to work with should he end up making his return.
