Nia Jax has explained why she wanted to team up with her current WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion partner Lash Legend.
In November, Legend was called up to the WWE main roster from NXT, forming an alliance with Nia Jax on SmackDown.
Having teamed together since as The Irresistible Forces, they won the Women’s Tag Team Title from Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY in February.
On the latest episode of the official WWE Raw Recap show, Jax explained why she initially wanted to team up with Legend. She said:
“I’ve had my eye on Lash for a while now. I saw her down in NXT when she was teaming up with Jakara (Jackson). They were a great tag team.
“I saw the powerhouse that Lash was, and just the energy she has, the look she has, the strength she has, knowing her background coming from such an athletic background, and knowing that the aggressiveness is in her.
“And then I had the opportunity to face her in NXT. What better way to find out if she’s capable of living up to the expectation that I have, than getting in the ring with her?
“And not only did she meet it, but she exceeeded it. And I thought, ‘Listen, I’d rather have this woman on my side than against me.'”

Lash Legend Praises Nia Jax
Also part of the interview, Lash Legend shared her own praise for Nia Jax discussing the match they had in NXT, which took place last August.
She added:
“It was something that I’d never felt before, going against somebody so dominant, so amazing, very wise in the ring – she knows exactly what she’s doing and her psychology – just everything, all of it is amazing.
“So I was like, ‘Dang, you wanna work with me, against me?’ And yeah it was a really fun time. She beat me up, we went back and forth, toe to toe, but I learned so much and I was just grateful after that she wanted us to be together.
“I was like, ‘Yeah of course.’ So that’s how that happened.”

Who Will Win The WrestleMania Women’s Tag Team Title Match?
It is now confirmed that, at WrestleMania 42, Nia Jax and Lash Legend will defend the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship in a four-way against Alexa Bliss & Charlotte Flair, Bayley & Lyra Valkyria, and The Bella Twins.
There isn’t really an obvious favorite heading into the match, and it could easily just be that Jax and Legend retain the title.
It could really depend on how many other title changes WWE has planned for Mania – if there are already plenty, the Women’s Tag Team Title could stay put, but if there aren’t many other titles changing hands, this is an easy one to switch.
Out of the three challenging teams, if there was to be a favorite to score the win, it would probably be The Bella Twins, based on the premise that they’re in their last run with WWE and as Hall of Famers, they’re reputable names to add to the lineage of the championship.
Plus, with forward-thinking, their Hall of Fame status means that they could essentially ‘pass the torch’ to whichever team would end up winning the title from them in a way that only tenured names like themselves can do.
