Following his recent surge in popularity, AAA’s Mr. Iguana has shared a big update on WWE’s plans for him on their programming.
While the main event match between El Hijo Del Vikingo and Chad Gable stole the show, arguably the biggest talking point from last Saturday’s WWE Worlds Collide event revolved around Mr. Iguana – who, along with Aero Star and Octagon Jr., competed in a six-man tag team match against the LWO and Lince Dorado.
After making a great impression at Worlds Collide with his unique look and iguana hand puppet known as La Yezca, the AAA star would then follow that up by also appearing in the crowd at WWE Money in the Bank later in the evening, receiving one of the biggest pops of the night when he was shown on screen.
With Iguana’s social media following growing, WWE aired a vignette for the 36-year-old on this week’s Raw, with an in-person appearance on NXT following that.
Speaking to Linea Direct TV, Iguana revealed WWE’s plans for him on the main roster after being asked what it would take to be in the same league as Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena.
Iguana said:
“I’m there effectively. Like literally I was in the Performance Center yesterday and they told me, you’re not going through NXT — you’re heading straight to the main roster.
“I was literally taking pictures with Shawn Michaels and they told me they need you here because your shirt is the top seller in WWE, and you’re also the fastest-rising star when it comes to action figures and trading cards.
“Being in WWE is the dream of every child and I will have all the time in the world for my city because thanks to them and thanks to being culichi, I would not be where I am today.”
We will provide further updates on WWE’s plans for Mr. Iguana as more information becomes available.
