A championship match has been announced for an upcoming AAA event, with Mr Iguana to defend his gold against two WWE stars.
Among the stars who have crossed between WWE and AAA since WWE’s acquisition of the Mexican promotion, Mr Iguana has arguably been the breakout star, becoming a viral sensation following several WWE-AAA appearances.
Mr Iguana and La Hiedra are now set to put their gold on the line, with two WWE NXT names to challenge for the AAA Mixed Tag Team Championship.
Lola Vice and Lince Dorado will challenge for the AAA Mixed Tag Team Championship at the September 7 AAA Alianzas event.
Lola Vice has wrestled on several AAA cards since WWE’s acquisition, most recently teaming with Nino Hamburgesa and her upcoming opponent Mr Iguana against Finn Balor, JD McDonagh and Raquel Rodriguez at Triplemania XXXIII on August 16.
The NXT star notably faced Mr Iguana and La Hiedra in mixed tag-team action at Verano De Escandalo on July 11, but with Santino Marella as her teammate, not Lince Dorado.
Lince Dorado currently works as a trainer at the WWE Performance Center, but has wrestled for NXT and Evolve during his latest stint with the company.
He wrestled at the June 7 Worlds Collide event, teaming with Cruz Del Toro and Dragon Lee against Aerostar, Octagon Jr and his upcoming opponent, Mr Iguana.
The next Worlds Collide event will take place on September 12. Dominik Mysterio will challenge for El Hijo Del Vikingo’s AAA Mega Championship at that event.
