A major announcement concerning TNA Wrestling was made during tonight’s special Homecoming episode of WWE NXT.
Tonight’s show played host to a Grayson Waller Effect segment with NXT Champion Oba Femi and Femi’s challenger at No Mercy, Ricky Saints.
However, they were interrupted by TNA World Champion Trick Williams, who stated that he wants to get the NXT Championship back as well.
That’s when Grayson Waller made the announcement – which was later made official – that next week’s WWE NXT will host a match between Femi and Williams, with both of their championships on the line, title vs title.
However, what makes this match interesting is that during tonight’s Homecoming show, a whole host of stars from the TNA roster have been tweeting their displeasure and seemingly teasing an overarching NXT vs TNA storyline.
With many fans thinking there could be a TNA ‘invasion’ of NXT off the back of this, next week’s match would make a lot of sense for that segment to take place, as it would mean neither Femi nor Williams would have to lose, and neither title would have to change hands if TNA invades and the match gets thrown out.
Mr William Regal and Ava had a backstage segment at the very end of the show, with Mr Regal telling Ava, ‘Looks like you’ve got trouble on your hands next week.’
