A major change to the schedule for TNA Wrestling following their partnership with WWE is being targeted, per Anthem President Carlos Silva.
TNA Wrestling and WWE made their working relationship official in January of this year, with various TNA stars appearing on WWE programming, and vice versa, with NXT stars appearing on TNA iMPACT.
Today, Anthem Sports Group President Carlos Silva spoke to JohnWallStreet.com, where he cited the WWE partnership as having a positive effect on the show’s television audience.
He said:
“We are [regularly] being featured on every major WWE and NXT platform — PLEs as well as weekly programming on The CW and their other [broadcast] outlets like Peacock. This [has resulted in] a huge [television] audience lift for [us], along with all the social media support we get from [them].”
Silva continued on, noting that he is looking for a new television deal for the company in the range of $10 million per year, and also hoping for the opportunity to go live 52 weeks a year.
On Wrestling Observer Live, current TNA producer Lance Storm said that the idea of going live every week has been talked about ‘many times’, with him saying that there is a good chance he won’t work there if that happens.
He said:
“This has been talked about many times, and my answer is always: there’s a good chance I won’t be working there if that happens.
“I love TNA, I love my job, I love everyone that I work with, but my life has always been a balance of my home life and my schedule. And the idea of flying out early Wednesday to not get home till later in the day Friday is a three-day-a-week job, and I’m not sure that’s in the cards for me anymore.
“Maybe we could work out a deal that I didn’t do every week, who knows. I would do everything I could to stay with the company should that happen and it’d be great if they could get a great media rights deal, but I’m not looking at a full-time schedule at this point in my life.”
