The new name for former WWE Champion Kofi Kingston following his departure from the company looks to have been revealed.

Kingston and his New Day tag team partner Xavier Woods left WWE in May after they refused to accept a revised contract that included a pay cut.

Now, the expectation is very much that they’ll be heading to AEW soon, potentially with a headline debut at AEW All In London later this month at Wembley Stadium.

While Xavier Woods is expected to use the name Austin Creed, which he used prior to WWE and also continued using throughout his WWE run on his UpUpDownDown YouTube channel, there have been more question marks about the name that Kofi Kingston will use.

Kingston’s real name is Kofi Sarkodie-Mensah, and on posters advertising upcoming post-WWE appearances for the record-breaking tag team champions, he’s simply been listed as ‘Kofi.’

Kofi Sarkodie-Mensah is a bit of a mouthful which perhaps makes it not-ideal to use as a wrestling name, but it looks like he’s found a solution.

Kofi has filed to trademark his real name, and has also filed to trademark his initials – KSM – which might be a bit more usable in a wrestling contect.

The filings for the Kofi Sarkodie-Mensah and KSM trademarks are both as follows:

Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer; Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services, namely, televised appearances by a professional wrestler and sports entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, personal appearances by a professional wrestler and sports entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, live appearances by a professional wrestler and sports entertainer; Providing online interviews featuring professional wrestler and sports entertainer in the field of professional wrestling and sports entertainment for entertainment purposes

On the same day as those filings, the former Xavier Woods filed to trademark Austin Creed as well, so it stands to reason they have something planned together – and it seems like going forward, they might be known as Austin Creed and KSM.

There were no trademarks filed as far as a potential new tag team name for the duo who presumably can’t call themselves New Day anymore, but Creed did share a video on social media not long ago with the caption Daybreak, so that might be what they go with.

They were recently announced for AEW star Chris Jericho’s next cruise which is coming up in November, another potential sign they’re on their way to AEW.
