John Cena has confirmed his future on the SmackDown brand ahead of his appearance on tonight’s show in Chicago.
With the remaining dates on John Cena’s retirement tour being confirmed today, tonight’s episode of SmackDown in Chicago’s Allstate Arena is Cena’s last advertised SmackDown date ahead of his retirement.
Cena was announced for upcoming WWE Raw shows in November, as well as the remaining three premium live events, and he has now confirmed his future on the SmackDown brand ahead of tonight’s show.
Taking to Twitter, Cena confirmed that tonight’s episode of SmackDown will be his final SmackDown appearance before his retirement.
He said:
My @WWE debut was on #Smackdown at @AllstateArena. Few, if any, places rival the feeling in that building with a sold-out Chicago crowd. We get to do it one last time for my final Smackdown appearance.
Tonight is one you are NOT going to want to miss. Let’s go CHI-TOWN!
Cena is set to face off against Brock Lesnar at the upcoming WWE Wrestlepalooza event in Indianapolis on September 20.
Cena made his debut in the Allstate Arena in 2002, answering Kurt Angle’s open challenge.
