Joe Hendry has shared a message ahead of tonight’s WWE NXT Deadline premium live event in San Antonio, Texas.
Hendry will be part of the annual men’s Iron Survivor Challenge match that will see the winner earn an NXT Championship match at New Year’s Evil.
After recently officially signing with WWE, the Scot shared a video on social media previewing the match and thanking the fans for getting him to this point.
He said:
“The situation is this – at NXT Deadline, I am in a match that John Cena himself chose me to be in. It’s the Iron Survivor Challenge, and if you win, you get a #1 contendership opportunity at the NXT Championship.
“And I think about that, and I think about right at the end of the year, here we are, I’ve got this huge opportunity, and it makes me look back on this insane year that I’ve had.
“And before I go into this match, I just wanna say a huge thank you to all the fans who have put me in this position, because it’s you guys that have got me here.
“All of this happened because when I walked out at NXT, you guys reacted the way you did. When I walked out at the Rumble, you guys reacted the way that you did. WrestleMania. Winning championships. Your reactions, you were with me every step of the way, and you had my back, and now it’s time for me to prove you all right.
“I’m gonna go in there with some of the best young athletes in this business. Je’Von Evans, Leon Slater, Myles Borne, Dion Lennox are all in the Iron Survivor Challenge.
“It’s time for me to prove that I can not only hang with these guys, but prove that I belong in NXT and in the WWE. And it is my intention to prove every one of my fans right.
“So right now, I wanna say a huge thank you to all of you, and I’m telling you now, there are times where you can just feel it in the air. We’ve flown into San Antonio and I just know, I feel it, the crowd is going to be electric. This is going to be a special event.
“So if you are in Texas, in San Antonio, get your tickets and get down. Very limited tickets available, because tomorrow is gonna be special.
“For a number of athletes on that roster, paths are gonna change, there are gonna be special moments, and it’s gonna be an incredible evening. You’re gonna go, and you’re gonna say, ‘I’m glad that I was there.'”
