Here is the latest on the status of former AEW National Champion Jack Perry, following recent reports about his AEW contract coming to an end.

It was previously reported on June 16 that Jack Perry was in the process of negotiating a new deal with AEW. This original report stated that Perry hadn’t signed a new AEW contract as of June 14, and that his current deal was set to expire “at any moment.”

Three weeks later, Perry reportedly still hasn’t signed a new contract with AEW.

Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer now reports that Perry still has not re-signed with AEW. Alvarez stated that Perry’s contract is up “very shortly”, but didn’t provide a specific date beyond that.

The recent report comes following Tony Khan stating that the plan is for Jack Perry to be in AEW for “a long time”.

During the Forbidden Door media call ahead of the June 28 pay-per-view, Khan stated that he believes Jack Perry has a bright future in wrestling, and stated that he has believed Perry has been a great wrestler for many years.

Despite these public comments, Perry and AEW not coming to terms on a new deal following a number of weeks has fuelled speculation that he plans to finish up with the company.

The son of the late Luke Perry, Jack Perry is considered an “AEW Original”, making his debut in the 21-man Casino Battle Royale match which took place at the company’s inaugural event, Double or Nothing 2019.

He has held several championships during his AEW tenure, including the AEW World Tag Team Championship, which he and Luchasaurus reigned with for 161 days in 2022.

Perry last wrestled for AEW on the June 24 Dynamite episode, losing to NJPW’s Zack Sabre Jr.
