There has been a new status update on WWE star Drew McIntyre after receiving a South of Heaven chokeslam through a car windshield on SmackDown last night (March 28).
In what was a homecoming of sorts for McIntyre at the 02 Arena in London, the United Kingdom’s first and only WWE world champion had a night of highs and lows on SmackDown.
McIntyre began the night by staking his claim for an Undisputed WWE Championship match post-WrestleMania 41, should Cody Rhodes successfully defend against John Cena in Las Vegas.
He would then go on to inflict a rare pinfall loss on Randy Orton later in the night, with an assist from Kevin Owens, before meeting up with Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi backstage at the show.
However, the former World Heavyweight Champion’s night took a turn for the worst shortly thereafter, as he was jumped by his rival Damian Priest and driven through a car windshield via a South of Heaven chokeslam.
After the spot, McIntyre took to Twitter to comment:
That was real glass…
It got in my eye.
While this was seemingly a wink and nod to Jack Perry and CM Punk’s altercation at AEW All In London 2023, PWInsider has now shared an update on McIntyre’s status after the spot.
According to their report, McIntyre’s comments about getting glass in his eye is in fact legitimate, however, he is said to be fine after the incident.
We at WrestleTalk wish McIntyre the best in his recovery.
