US Champion Carmelo Hayes has sent a message to a former WWE star, telling him to pull up for a title match.
With Carmelo Hayes winning the United States Title in a match which aired on the December 26 SmackDown episode, he has defended his championship in numerous open challenges.
Ahead of the open challenge on the February 27 episode, a former WWE star expressed interest in facing Hayes for the gold.
With WWE asking who will step up to HIM in the match preview on Twitter, Bishop Dyer – fka Baron Corbin – commented:
“Wish I could! He’s so good”
Welcoming the challenge, Carmelo Hayes responded:
“Lonewolf! Pull up 🙏🏾”
Hayes has shared the ring with the former “Baron Corbin” on several occasions, notably defending the NXT Championship against him at the June 27, 2023 Gold Rush show.
They most recently wrestled on the May 10, 2024 SmackDown episode, with Hayes pinning Corbin in the first round of the King of the Ring tournament.
It was ultimately Matt Cardona who answered Hayes’ open challenge on the February 27 show, with the champion retaining in just under 12 minutes.
