WWE Hall of Famer Booker T has commented on a potential change to his role as an announcer in the company.
For the past couple of years, the NXT announce team has been Vic Joseph and Booker T, with them being joined by Corey Graves earlier this year, but now back to being a duo.
There have been a number of shakeups to the WWE commentary teams as of late for a few different reasons.
Pat McAfee has been on a hiatus since July citing burnout, Wade Barrett is currently on a break he booked nine months ago, and Joe Tessitore is unavailable on Fridays due to the college football season starting.
Moreover, for this past Friday specifically, WWE was running its AAA Worlds Collide show in Las Vegas immediately after SmackDown which was in Norfolk, Virginia, which meant Corey Graves was at Worlds Collide and couldn’t do SmackDown.
Therefore, WWE brought in the NXT duo of Booker T and Vic Joseph to call SmackDown instead.
On his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker has now addressed the possibility of doing more main roster commentary going forward. He said:
“I always said I’d never really wanna do main roster commentary anymore. A lot of people probably don’t wanna see me on main roster commentary.
“But I had such a great time, me and Vic, on Friday night, and hopefully I get a chance to do it again sometime.”
