There was a surprise title change at the end of tonight’s October 25 episode of WWE SmackDown on USA Network.
Last week, DIY and the Motor City Machine Guns qualified to face each other in a WWE Tag Team Championship #1 contenders match tonight.
DIY defeated the Street Profits and Pretty Deadly in a three-way to earn the match, while MCMG on debut beat A-Town Down Under and Los Garza.
Tonight was the ultimate 1 contenders match, with the Machine Guns – Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley – picking up the win and earning a shot at the WWE Tag Team Championship against the current champions, Bloodline members Tonga Loa and Tama Tonga.
It turns MCMG wouldn’t have to wait very long to get their title shot.
As Sabin and Shelley were celebrating, Solo Sikoa and the rest of the Bloodline came out to the ring to ‘introduce themselves’.
Sabin got on the mic and said they’d be ready for the title match to happen “any place, any time”, to which Sikoa responded with the challenge for it to happen “right here, right now”.
Initially, Nick Aldis rejected the idea because he didn’t think it’d be fair, but Shelley cut Aldis off and stated that they did actually want the match right now.
And that’s exactly what happened – minutes after becoming #1 contenders, Sabin and Shelley challenged Tonga Loa and Tama Tonga for the WWE Tag Team Championship in the SmackDown main event.
The match featured copious amounts of ringside antics with the Bloodline, as Sikoa and Jacob Fatu eventually brawled off with Roman Reigns and Jimmy Uso.
Soon after that, the referee was knocked down, but when Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa tried to cheat, they were thwarted by Jey Uso, repaying the favor after The Bloodline cost him the Intercontinental Championship against Bron Breakker on Raw this past Monday.
MCMG capitalized on Jey’s interference, and scored the win after hitting their Skull & Bones double-team finisher.
The Motor City Machine Guns are the WWE Tag Team Champions.
After MCMG left the ring celebrating, Jimmy Uso joined Jey in the ring and hugged to a MASSIVE reaction from the crowd, while Roman Reigns was looking on from the stage.
