The WWE commentary teams have undergone some changes over the past couple of weeks, and tonight’s SmackDown was no different.
Last week, Michael Cole announced that he and Corey Graves would be the SmackDown announce team for the next couple of months.
This is due to college football season kicking off meaning Joe Tessitore is unavailable on Fridays, and Wade Barrett taking a break.
Earlier today, we pointed out that WWE & AAA Worlds Collide is taking place directly after SmackDown, which would mean Graves would have to miss either SmackDown or Worlds Collide, as he’s been the voice of AAA since the WWE acquisition.
SmackDown is in fact the one he missed, and as it turns out, so did Michael Cole.
Neither Cole nor Graves were on the call for SmackDown tonight, and neither were Tessitore or Barrett.
Calling SmackDown tonight in Norfolk, Virginia was actually the NXT announce team of Vic Joseph and Booker T.
Joseph and Booker have been the NXT announce team for the past couple of years – with Booker joining Joseph when Wade Barrett moved to the main roster – and had been accompanied by Graves since the start of 2025 until a couple of weeks ago.
Joseph has called main roster shows before and had a run on Raw as far back as 2019 before he moved to calling NXT UK and NXT.
Booker has a long history of being on the WWE commentary team at numerous points throughout the past 20 years.
