AJ Lee has opened up on a recent WWE Raw match that made her emotional for how far the women’s division has evolved.

AJ made her return to WWE after 10 years away back in September, with her set to compete in her first singles match in 11 years this weekend at WWE Elimination Chamber in Chicago.

Appearing on ESPN’s Unsportsmanlike, AJ opened up on a recent WWE Raw match between Stephanie Vaquer, Raquel Rodriguez and Nikki Bella, and how it made her emotional.

She said:

“If you’re thinking about it, just 10 years ago, I was competing in limbo contests and bikini matches, it was a different time.

“So I’m just so proud to see all these different kinds of women, everybody’s flavour, their looks are the least interesting thing about them. They have a million wonderful attributes to them. They’re superstars I wish I had growing up.

“Just to be able to see some matches, there was a title match the other week that was a Triple Threat, it was Nikki Bella, it was Stephanie and it was Raquel, these three Latinas. I never would have seen that on my TV growing up, and it made me super emotional.

“It’s just a beautiful thing to see how it’s evolved, it should have been that way forever ago, and I hope it just continues to grow and grow.”
