A new AEW champion was among the names to comment after the Survival of the Fittest match on last night’s episode of Dynamite.
The July 1 episode of AEW Dynamite saw Hikaru Shida capture the TBS Championship that had previously been vacated by Willow Nightingale.
Shida was victorious in a six-star field that also included Harley Cameron, Kris Statlander, Maika, Persephone and Queen Aminata, and would address her win in comments shared after Dynamite on Twitter, saying:
“Yes, yes. I told you all. The best is Shida.”
For Cameron, she would also share her thoughts on Twitter and had her sights very much set on the star who eliminated her during the match, namely Persephone, saying:
“Persephone (gives a round of applause, then performs a dance routine full of enthusiasm). I’m so pumped up right now because, out there, I thought we had this great thing going. And, we did for a second, and then I realized, oh, you knew me how I guess a lot of people knew me: the happy-go-lucky, crazy Australian girl, right, mate?
“Yeah. You know, for a second, I trusted you out there, and then things went south when I was like… then you grabbed me and (splat gesture). Hey, I guess I only have myself to blame, because you’re not wrong, I have been a sidekick, I have been a tag partner, I have been a friend of pretty much everybody. But, one thing I’ve never done is stab somebody in the back to get ahead, unlike you.
“So, Persephone, I do want to say ‘thank you’. Thank you for teaching me that I need to start focusing on myself. And, I think I’m going to focus that energy on you.
“Feel. The. Wrath.”

Persephone would also respond, once again in footage shared on Twitter,
“Tonight, I didn’t win the TBS Championship, but I think I left with something even better, because we all learned that the great women of AEW, women like Harley, like Aminata, and even like Kris Statlander, are some of the most gullible and pathetic women I have ever seen.
“I am done playing nice. Tonight, I found your weaknesses, and I will continue to use and exploit every single one. I will step on whoever I need to step on to get to where I want to be.
“If you’re not a fan, I don’t give a flying f**k.”

No doubt, all the competitors will be seeking a shot at the TBS Championship in the future, with Statlander being the only one to have held the title previously.
Nightingale’s second reign came to in May of this year after 140 days, with the star having suffered a shoulder injury.
Defining Greatness
Introduced in 2021, a standout feature of the TBS Championship has been two impressive title reigns out the seven to date.
Jade Cargill was the first to hold the title between January 2022 and May 2023, amassing an outstanding 508 days as champion, losing to Kris Statlander at Double or Nothing.
Cargill would continue her journey in WWE, signing with the promotion in September 2023, leaving behind her a defining legacy as TBS Champion.
While Statlander would see a 174-day reign, followed by 155 days in the hands of Julia Hart, nothing came close to Cargill until Mercedes Mone defeated Willow Nightingale, ending her 35-day reign in May 2024.
Mone’s reign would surpass Cargill’s, reaching 584 days before Nightingale would claim the title back at the New Year’s Smash episode of Dynamite in December of last year.
For Nightingale’s second reign to end at 140 days due to a legitimate injury, we won’t see how long she could have held onto the championship and what feuds would have been sparked with the star as TBS Champion, but there’s clearly plenty of mileage ahead for all involved.
Then, of course, there’s the thorny question of just what Nightingale will do when she makes her return and just who will be in her sights.
