An upcoming title match for AEW International and NJPW NEVER Openweight champion Konosuke Takeshita has been revealed.
Takeshita became a double champion at Wrestle Kingdom 19, when he defended his International Championship and won the NEVER Openweight Championship during a Winner Takes All match against Shingo Takagi.
He defended both titles the following night against Tomohiro Ishii at the January 5 Wrestle Dynasty crossover event.
Takeshita’s future as NEVER Openweight Champion became clearer following Wrestle Dynasty, with it revealed that KUSHIDA will challenge for the NJPW gold at the January 11 Battle in the Valley event.
The AEW star also had a confrontation with Oleg Boltin during his backstage interview, but a match between the two hasn’t been confirmed at the time of writing.
Following runs with DDT and AEW, Takeshita made his official NJPW debut in July 2024, competing in the G1 Climax tournament.
Takashita had an impressive run, advancing from block action after finishing second in B-Block, before coming up short against eventual finalist Yota Tsuji in the quarterfinals.
Konosuke Takeshita has made a big announcement about his in-ring future, which you can read more about right here.
