AEW Continental Classic

An AEW star has revealed that he wants to compete in this year’s Continental Classic, as well as a future World Championship run.

With the 2025 Continental Classic running from late November until Worlds End on December 27, Jon Moxley would defeat Kazuchika Okada in the finals.

This year’s Continental Classic is yet to be announced, but Brian Cage made it clear that it is one of his goals in a recent appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet.

Asked whether he could see an AEW World Championship run in his future, Cage was adamant that was the case, but also looked at the Continental Classic, saying:

“Oh, of course. I guess even then, well, we have so many titles there. I mean, I’ll take whatever I can get.

“What I do really want to be part of this year, for sure, is the Continental Classic. Obviously, that’s not until the end of the year, but that’s something I definitely want to. I would love to build up enough repertoire to have an awesome Continental Classic run by the end of the year.”

Moxley would retain the Continental Championship at AEW Forbidden Door, defeating Bandido on the June 28 pay-per-view.

A World Of Opportunity For Brian Cage

During the interview with Van Vliet, Cage revealed that he stayed with AEW due to the opportunities that it offered him over a potential move to WWE.

While the opportunities in question may not be limited to his run in AEW, it would be an unusual choice for Cage to not receive a push under Tony Khan’s leadership.

A former FTW Championship, further title reigns have eluded Cage, although he’s clearly reinvigorated having returned from injury in May of this year, having undergone two surgeries in his absence.

Returning on the May 13 episode of AEW Dynamite, Cage challenged Kevin Knight for the TNT Championship, only to be unsuccessful. The thirst for gold is clearly there, and there are opportunities to position him as a champion, unstoppable and undeniable.

It arguably helps that Cage is in prime position for championship opportunities, thanks to his membership of the Don Callis Family, which currently sees Knight as TNT Champion and Mark Davis as National Champion. Previously, Kyle Fletcher held the former on two separate reigns.

Beyond that, the Don Callis Family have held the Continental Championship, International Championship, the World Trio Championship and the Unified Championship. Gold is a familiar material to be around the waist of the various members of the faction.

With Don Callis in his ear, perhaps Cage will see both of his dreams come true.
