A big title change has taken place ahead of WWE Worlds Collide, with a major change to an upcoming match now official.
Following WWE announcing its acquisition of Mexican promotion AAA in April, stars from WWE and AAA brands will face off at the June 7 Worlds Collide.
With El Hijo Del Vikingo and Chad Gable set to face off in the show’s main event, a title change has officially raised the stakes for this match.
El Hijo Del Vikingo challenged for Alberto El Patron’s (Alberto Del Rio’s) AAA Mega Championship – AAA’s top title – on Saturday, May 31.
The challenger was ultimately victorious, defeating El Patron to become AAA Mega Champion for the second time in his career.
You can watch the closing moments from this bout below.
This result won’t come as a surprise to many, as WWE spoiled this result on the May 26 Raw episode, sharing a graphic for Vikingo’s Worlds Collide match, advertising that the AAA Mega Championship would be on the line.
Now that El Hijo Del Vikingo is officially the AAA Mega Champion, this title match is official.
The real reason WWE chose to spoil Vikingo winning the title has now been revealed, which you can read more about right here.
