While AEW is currently preparing for Full Gear on November 14, it won’t be long until the company is building towards this year’s Worlds End pay-per-view.
AEW Worlds End 2026 is slated to take place on December 19 at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
This will be the fourth Worlds End pay-per-view, with AEW World Championship matches headlining the first three iterations of this event.
Ahead of an announcement for the 2026 show, here are the stories behind the three AEW Worlds End main events which have taken place so far.
2023 – MJF vs Samoa Joe: AEW World Championship
The first Worlds End event concluded with a major title change, with a new AEW World Champion being crowned.
Having defeated Samoa Joe during the September 20, 2023 Dynamite: Grand Slam, MJF once again put his title on the line against the Samoan Submission Machine at the December 30, 2023 pay-per-view.
The closing moments of the match saw MJF call for Adam Cole to give him his Dynamite Diamond Ring, but Samoa Joe pulled the champion into a Coquina Clutch and made him pass out to win the gold.
Following the bout, Adam Cole revealed himself to be the leader of a new faction featuring Roderick Strong, Matt Taven, Wardlow and Mike Bennett, the Undisputed Kingdom.
2024 – Jon Moxley vs Orange Cassidy vs “Hangman” Adam Page vs Jay White – AEW World Championship
In the sophomore year of Worlds End events, Jon Moxley put his AEW World Title on the line in a four-way bout at the December 28, 2024 event.
The closing moments of the match saw each challenger – Adam Page, Orange Cassidy and Jay White – hit their signature moves, with none of these stars ultimately prevailing.
Jon Moxley was ultimately victorious, pinning Jay White following interference from Wheeler Yuta, Marina Shafir and Claudio Castagnoli.
Adam Copeland and FTR chased off the Death Riders following the match, with the two sides later facing off at Fight for the Fallen in January 2025.
2025 – Samoa Joe vs Swerve Strickland vs “Hangman” Adam Page vs MJF – AEW World Championship
The most recent Worlds End event ended with another title change, this time with Samoa Joe defending his AEW World Title against three other stars.
With Joe originally set to put the championship on the line against Adam Page and Swerve Strickland, MJF made his return during the contract signing on December 17, 2025 to cash in his Casino Gauntlet contract to add himself to the bout.
This paid dividends, with MJF winning the bout to become a then-two time AEW World Champion.
With MJF dethroning Samoa Joe, this result felt like a full-circle moment, following the Worlds End 2023 main event.
