From the Royal Rumble to Money in the Bank ladder matches, WWE regularly plays host to some of the most exciting stipulation bouts in wrestling.
While WWE has an extensive back catalogue, there have been some match stipulations which have either been brought to the main roster for the first time, or re-introduced to modern audiences in recent years, such as WarGames and Three Stages of Hell respectively.
Following recent reports and rumors, there are several match types we could soon see brought to Raw and SmackDown to add something special to some ongoing feuds.
These include…
Iron Survivor Challenge
Per WrestleVotes via Fightful Select, sources familiar with previous creative discussions stated that WWE has considered bringing the Iron Survivor Challenge to the main roster in the past.
With a source suggesting that this bout could naturally fit into several ongoing main roster storylines, it would be interesting to see WWE bring this tried and tested stipulation to Raw and SmackDown.
Traditionally taking place at NXT Deadline to determine title contenders, the Iron Survivor Challenge typically sees five stars enter the match at separate intervals.
Each pinfall and submission earns a star a point, with the star who loses the fall having to enter the penalty box for a short period.
After the 25 minute time limit has elapsed, the star with the most falls is declared the winner.
With match dynamics able to change in an instant, it’d be fun to see WWE bring one of its most exciting stipulations to main roster television.
But what other rulesets could WWE bring to Raw and SmackDown?
British Rounds
A British Rounds match involves matches being split into a number of three minute rounds with rest breaks in between, similar to pro-boxing bouts.
Matches are contested under 2/3 falls rules, with falls taking place via pinfall, submission or knockout.
The match ends after one wrestler scores two falls, or after the predetermined number of rounds elapse. If the time limit is reached, the star who leads in terms of falls is crowned the victor, otherwise the bout ends as a draw.
WWE began to regularly feature these matches on NXT UK, with Heritage Cup matches being fought under British Round rules.
The Heritage Cup was brought over to the US-based NXT brand in 2022, with numerous Rounds matches taking place on NXT TV ahead of the title’s retirement in July 2025.
There are a number of main roster stars who it’d be fun to see compete under this stipulation, including British stars like Drew McIntyre, and inaugural Heritage Cup winner Axiom (A-Kid).
