New WWE Hall of Famer AJ Styles has responded to fans speculating about him joining AEW following his retirement match.

After Styles lost to GUNTHER at Royal Rumble, some fans began theorizing that while it was the end of his WWE career, it might have paved the way for him to leave the company and wrestle elsewhere as opposed to being a full retirement.

Since that match, Styles has continued making appearances for WWE, including Stephanie McMahon’s podcast and this past Monday’s episode of Raw, which was dedicated as a tribute to him.

At the end of Raw, The Undertaker came out and announced that Styles would be inducted into this year’s Hall of Fame.

AJ Styles Is Not Joining AEW

Appearing on the latest edition of the Talk’N Shop show hosted by Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson – who were at Raw on Monday – Styles responded to people saying WWE only put him in the Hall of Fame so he wouldn’t join AEW.

He said:

“Let me give you something to talk about.

“Everybody wants to say, ‘WWE put him in the Hall of Fame so he couldn’t go to AEW.’

“Guys, I’m retired from wrestling in the ring. That’s all this is.

“I make my own choices, I make my own decisions. I was ready.

“I’ve said this before, and I think Nattie put it in her book, where she talks about staying at the table too long, like you’ve gotta beat the house.

“I beat the house because I was at the verge of staying at the table too long.”

Styles stated elsewhere in the interview that he is going to be continuing to work with WWE and is looking at potentially helping the young talent on the roster.
