Since returning to WWE in 2023, Chelsea Green has become one of the most consistently entertaining acts in the entire promotion.

Before re-signing, Green had established herself as a wrestler and manager to her husband Matt Cardona on the independent scene, including Game Changer Wrestling.

In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that WWE reportedly turned down GCW’s idea for Green to team with Cardona at their upcoming Hammerstein Ballroom show on January 19.

The report reads:

“There also was an idea at one point for Cardona & Chelsea Green vs. Joey Janela & Megan Bayne on that show, but WWE wouldn’t go for it.”

“The People Vs. GCW” event will mark the company’s return to the Hammerstein Ballroom for the first time in three years.

Green is scheduled to face Bayley in the WWE Women’s United States Championship Tournament Semifinals on the December 13 edition of SmackDown. The winner will move on to the finals on the December 14 Saturday Night’s Main Event.
