Former WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton has opened up on how she first got into wrestling, and her first WWE tryout being cancelled.
Former WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton first signed with the company back in August 2021, with her making her WWE debut on NXT that December.
Tiffany Stratton Trained With Former WWE Star
Tiffany Stratton has now opened up on how wrestling found her in her life, and training with former WWE star Mr. Kennedy.
Speaking on the Nikki & Brie Show, she said:
“I fully believe every little side quest I’ve done in my life has fully led me to professional wrestling, and when I saw, it was kind of like blowing up again at the time, I think it was like 2021 where I saw it really starting to take off, that’s when I discovered wrestling and I was like ‘oh my god, this is totally up my alley’. I feel like my entire life I’ve been preparing for this job. Like this has to be my new thing.
“So immediately I submitted my stuff online. Immediately, I did it so many times you guys. Then I found a pro wrestling school near me, I forget what it was called, I think it was just called Pro Wrestling Academy. Mr. Kennedy was the owner of that, so that was really cool.
“So I pulled up there with my mother. It was on a very sketchy side of town, so my mom came with me, I was the only girl there, and I rolled around for a little bit, took some bumps, then my mom, she’s a nurse practitioner and she was over at some guy’s house, doing her, taking her vitals, whatever nurses do, and she saw this guy had posters on his wall, of wrestling, and was like ‘oh my god, my daughter’s trying to get into that kind of stuff, that’s so cool that you have posters’ or whatever.
“The guy was like ‘oh really, I know Greg Gagne, and I feel like he could help your daughter.’ So my mom took down his number and immediately texted him for me. So she texted Greg, and Greg was like ‘who the heck is this random lady calling me?’ So they hop on a call and he agrees to train me, and she tells him about how I’ve been going to Mr. Kennedy’s gym, and he’s like ‘I think I’m going to try and reach out to Mr. Kennedy and see if it’d be okay if I pull up to the school and watch you train.’
“So he does that, and he watches me take my first flip bump and he was like ‘you’ve you’ve never done that before?’ and I was like, ‘no, but I do it all the time on the trampoline’. Like, that’s something you do all the time in gymnastics, the one-footed flip bump. So he could not believe that it was just so easy for me to to do it on the first try and off one foot, and then run the ropes, like it was all just kind of second nature for me.
“So immediately he was like ‘okay, I’m going to train you. I’m going to get you ready for your try out and you’re going to be the most prepared there and it’s going to be amazing’. So he reaches out to, I think it was Stephanie McMahon, and she pulls like my information from the whole vaults of all the tryyouts. Pulls my information out. She says ‘okay, we have her in our next try out’.”
Tiffany Stratton’s Cancelled WWE Tryout
Tiffany would continue on, detailing a tryout she had with the company that was cancelled dur to COVID-19, that also featured other currently signed WWE stars.
She added:
“So, the tryout comes, I’m so ready, I’m so nervous. The tryout comes and COVID-19 happened and they had to fly us all back home in the same day because they literally had to host Raw and SmackDown there that night, so we couldn’t try out.
“There were so many people that are now signed with WWE that were at this tryout, like Trick Williams was there, Kiana James was there, I think Jade Cargill was there too. So many people that were there that are now signed.”

Tiffany Stratton At WWE WrestleMania 42
Currently, there is no obvious destination for Tiffany Stratton at WrestleMania 42, though she is set to challenge Giulia for the Women’s United States Championship next week on SmackDown.
A potential match between Giulia and Tiffany at WrestleMania would be a nice addition to this year’s WrestleMania card, so the match on SmackDown should end up going to a non-finish of some kind.
