The Miz has praised fellow WWE star Trick Williams after seeing the former NXT Champion in media appearances.
Called up to the main roster in January of this year, Trick Williams has been a fixture on WWE television since his September 2021.
A former North American Champion and two-time NXT Champion, Williams has brought his in-ring ability to the SmackDown roster, but that wasn’t the focus of recent comments by The Miz.
In an interview with Esteban Ramirez, The Miz noted the media appearances that Williams has undertaken as a strength of the young star, saying:
“I was watching Trick’s interviews, and I was like that takes time. Doing what we do in WWE, you practice at the Performance Center, they kind of show you the ropes.
“But to be able to go on television and media and be able to showcase your character, but also be likable to where people are like, ‘I want to watch this guy’, he does it better than most I’ve seen.
“He’s done it the best I’ve seen in his generation, I guess you can say.”

Trick Williams has found attention from an unexpected source, with the Twitter account of fast-food chain KFC previously calling for him to be ‘pushed to the moon.‘
The Wrestling X Factor
Looking back across the history of professional wrestling, particularly as a television product, fans have seen the coming and going of hundreds, if not thousands, of stars.
While there is no doubt that the professional wrestling world isn’t a “one-size-fits-all” environment, it’s arguably true that charisma plays a strong role in the popularity of a star, particularly among fans who may watch for the entertainment factor.
Undeniably, ability plays a huge role in any particular wrestler’s presentation, with those skills being honed through training, frequent matches and a desire to exceed expectations, but charisma and personality are potentially harder to teach.
For the likes of Trick Williams, the abilities that The Miz refers to are the sort of personality traits that the young star already has, refined and sharpened by WWE and those who have come before him.
That’s not to say that personality cannot be taught or learned, in the same way that an actor adopts the challenging role that they are given, but there’s a difference between being a character on a TV show or movie and fulfilling media appearances as the individual behind the portrayal, and what WWE stars do on a regular basis in the same mainstream showings.
