It has emerged today that a WWE Raw star and former Intercontinental Champion has undergone surgery for a “serious hernia.”

One of the stories of the Royal Rumble this year was the early elimination of one of the favorites to win the entire match, Bron Breakker.

Breakker was ambushed on his way to the ring by a mystery masked attacker, and was then eliminated from the Rumble instantly by Oba Femi.

On Raw the following night, Breakker destroyed the set and ended up being ordered to leave the venue.

Today’s Wrestling Observer Daily Update reports:

Bron Breakker had surgery for a serious hernia. No word on how long he’ll be out.

The Observer Newsletter a couple of days ago detailed that current plans had Breakker set to face Seth Rollins at WWE WrestleMania 42, with Rollins expected to return from injury by then.

Prior to that direction, Breakker was actually planned to win the Royal Rumble as he was set to face CM Punk at WrestleMania, with Roman Reigns set for a third Mania match against Cody Rhodes.

When WWE and Triple H in particular decided against running Reigns vs Rhodes again, the decision was for Reigns to face Punk, and for Rhodes to lose the Undisputed WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre then chase McIntyre to get it back.

We send our best wishes to Breakker for his recovery and we’ll continue to provide any updates.
