Tonight’s February 10 WWE Raw provided an update on Sami Zayn after he was attacked by Kevin Owens at the end of last week’s show.

The main event last week saw CM Punk defeat Sami Zayn in an Elimination Chamber qualifying match.

After the match, Punk and Zayn shook hands, but Zayn was ambushed by behind from Kevin Owens, knocking Punk out of the ring and nailing Zayn with a package piledriver.

Owens did this because Sami Zayn didn’t save him from Cody Rhodes in the Owens vs Rhodes ladder match at the Royal Rumble.

WWE had previously stated that Zayn would be out indefinitely, but there was a more specific update on Raw tonight.

Michael Cole on commentary noted that Zayn had suffered “spinal contusion” and “extreme nerve damage” as a result of the attack.

Owens launched a similar attack on Randy Orton with a piledriver back in November, which Orton still hasn’t returned from.

It appears Owens vs Zayn is likely a match being set up for WrestleMania 41 on April 19 and 20.

The first official match for Mania was announced earlier during Raw tonight – click here to find out more.
