WWE Raw star Liv Morgan thinks she lacked a character on TV, until making her return from injury in early 2024.

On the January 6 episode of Raw Liv Morgan returned to televised in-ring competition for the first time since suffering a separated shoulder in June 2025.

The injury derailed what had been Morgan’s most successful period of her over 10-year WWE career thus far, with The Judgment Day star winning the Women’s World Championship and WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles twice since early 2024.

It was at the 2024 WWE Royal Rumble event that Morgan kicked off that run, returning from a shoulder injury once again and immediately targeting the star who put her on the shelf the year prior in 2023: Rhea Ripley.

Speaking on What’s Your Story? With Stephanie McMahon, Morgan discussed that return and how she felt that, before that point, she had lacked her own distinct character and purpose on WWE TV.

Morgan recalled:

“I feel like throughout my whole career, maybe until like 2024, 2023 if I was lacking one thing it would have been the character. I feel like I had all the tools but if you were to ask someone who Liv Morgan was you might have gotten different answers.

“It wasn’t until I had my first shocker injury where Rhea injured my shoulder and I had six months off to really sit and formulate what I want to come back to it kind of popped into my head so suddenly, ‘Well, you’re going to come back and you’re gonna come for everything that Rhea has, it’s like your revenge tour.’

“The Liv Morgan Revenge Tour popped into my head and suddenly I had a purpose. So having like a concrete purpose, like she injured me and took the one thing that I love from me, which is wrestling, I’m gonna come back and take everything that she loves. “For the first time I thought I had a full fledged identity, character, that I could sink my teeth into because I knew the goals so well. I had my why.”
