It was James who picked up the win after pinning Flair in a result that many fans found surprising.

Why WWE SmackDown Win Against Charlotte Flair Was ‘Bittersweet’

Commenting on her victory in a new interview with TMZ’s Inside The Ring, James said:

“I think there’s a bittersweet to that. Because we’ve become partners in the gym and training through knee rehab and things like that.

“But also, taking a step back and realizing, this is the most decorated woman in WWE of all time. Being able to be like, ‘You just did that, you just pinned the best of the best.’

“So it was a great moment for me and it’s something that I’ll definitely remember for a long time.”

How Kiana James Got Into Wrestling

Elsewhere in the interview, James discussed how she first got into wrestling, saying:

“I was exposed to wrestling because my brothers watched, but I grew up a gymnast so I was all in on gymnastics.

“Then I was re-introduced – my collegiate dance and cheer coach at the time was obsessed with Total Divas, so she got me hooked on that.

“And then I started gravitating towards, ‘The wrestling part’s really cool.’ And then I started watching and then I was like, ‘I feel like I could do this. This is awesome.’

“And it kind of blends the performance aspect, the acrobatics and the athleticism, and then the glitz and glam of performing, and then the business side too.

“So it kind of meshed all my worlds, and I just fell in love with it.”
