A current champion has called for WWE to offer a contract to an independent star, following recent praise.
Laynie Luck currently has a WWE ID deal, and holds the company’s WWE ID Women’s Championship.
She most recently defended the gold at the WWR+ Tournament For Tomorrow, defeating Allie Katch at the March 22 show.
While Katch ultimately didn’t walk away with the gold and a deal with the company’s independent development program, Luck has pushed for WWE to sign Katch to an ID deal, tweeting:
“can we sign allie anyways pls”
Emotionally expressing gratitude, Luck also wrote:
“thank you allie. i love you 😭🫶🏼
“i kept trying to write more but i just end up crying!!!!!”
WWE Creative Consultant & Domestic Talent Scout Gabe Sapolsky shared heavy praise for this match, calling it one of the best independent matches he has seen since he started in his current role.
With Gabe Sapolsky also overseeing the WWE ID program, his comments has fuelled speculation that Allie Katch could join the program sooner rather than later.
While ID signings still compete on the independent scene, the likes of Laynie Luck have appeared on WWE’s Evolve brand.
Luck recently won for the first time on Evolve, with the WWE ID Women’s Champion defeating Zena Sterling in a match which aired on the March 18 episode.
With now-former Evolve Women’s Champion Kendal Grey finishing up with Evolve, we could see the likes of Laynie Luck, and maybe even Allie Katch, fill up the available spots and become mainstays for the brand.
The founder of the original Evolve independent promotion, Gabe Sapolsky also contributes to the WWE iteration of the brand, so his praise could mean big things for Katch and Luck.
