A guest appearance spot from WWE Raw was reportedly viewed as a “dud” backstage in the company.
Ahead of hosting ‘The Roast of WrestleMania’ on Sunday, April 20, comedian Tony Hinchcliffe made a guest appearance on commentary during Monday’s WWE Raw (April 7).
Taking to the booth alongside Michael Cole and Pat McAfee for The War Raiders’s WWE World Tag Team Title defence against The New Day, Hinchcliffe’s commentary generated controversy among fans, with many critical of a particular joke where he said the only thing stiffer than Michael Cole was Big E’s neck.
According to Fightful Select, those that they spoke to within WWE admitted that Hinchcliffe’s commentary spot came across as a “dud”, however, the report noted that the comedian was “very respectful” whilst attending the show.
Big E responded to Hinchcliffe’s joke whilst appearing on the Raw Recap podcast, with the former WWE Champion claiming that he wasn’t aware of the line ahead of time, but his feelings were not hurt by what was said.
