Potential names for three WWE stars have now been trademarked, as revealed in recent filings submitted to the USPTO.

The three trademark applications were filed on March 18 for as-yet-unidentified WWE stars.

Applications were made for trademarks surrounding ‘MAX ABRAMS’, ‘VERONICA HAVEN’, ‘ANYA RUNE’, ‘JACARI BALL’ and ‘GIANNA CAPRI,’ with the associated goods and services categories for each filing covering:

Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service;

providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members;

organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment.

At the time of writing, the recipients of all three names are yet to be identified.

Name That WWE Star

It’s common knowledge that many stars, established and emerging, who come to WWE may be renamed under their new contract, with the likes of Ricky Starks being well-known by the moniker in AEW only to be rebranded as Ricky Saints in NXT

It isn’t a consistent rule, with other stars able to come to WWE and continue to perform under their real or established names, even if they had been signed to the company previously, such as the former Zack Ryder, who would return as Matt Cardona.

With many pathways into WWE, and recent Tryouts seeing the former Rayne Leverkusen signed to the company, it’s entirely possible that one of the filed names could be how fans will remember other recent signees.

Whether one of the four recent signings, including Leverkusen, will adopt any of the three recently trademarked names for a television run remains to be seen.

Outside of the tryouts, filming has been underway for the third season of WWE LFG, which sees Legends team up to mentor Future Greats, with all those competing in past seasons already under contract, and there is potential there that one of the up-and-coming stars could find themselves with a new name.

For new stars who land on NXT, it isn’t beyond the realm of possibility that a name change can happen mid-run or during a main roster call-up, as was the case with Marcel Barthel, who made his SmackDown debut as Ludwig Kaiser back in 2022, alongside GUNTHER, who was previously WALTER in NXT UK.

Of course, a trademark application may not result in the name being used at all, either due to plans changing or, in a scrapped plan for GUNTHER, due to other connotations.
