Former WWE Divas Champion Layla has suggested she may be open to a potential reunion with her Hall of Famer teammate, Michelle McCool.
Although retired since July 2015, Layla made the statement on Twitter, after a fan suggested a LayCool reunion was something was very much needed, responding:
“That would be #FLAWLESS 💋”
With Layla having recently appeared on the WSE Lounge, the former WWE Women’s Champion would also share that her time with McCool was the highlight of her career, saying:
“That was the highlight of my career. The greatest times ever.
“LayCool was definitely something that was very unexpected. I think coming from me, I never thought that I would even get to have those opportunities in WWE.
“Making a connection with Michelle and working together, I was able to learn about the business. I was able to be part of things that I was never a part of before.
“It was comical, there were sad moments, there were good moments. I look back in reflection on it, and I found an amazing friend and memories that will always stick with me.”

Teamed with McCool from 2009, LayCool would remain united until the cracks began to show in early 2011, resulting in the pair splitting up and feuding, with Layla suffering an injury in May that would write her off television.
The Old Is New Again In WWE
WWE doesn’t shy away from nostalgia, with former stars making their returns in a number of capacities, be it hosting (in the case of John Cena at WrestleMania 42) or an in-ring run on television.
With The Bella Twins now back in the fold and set to challenge for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship in a Fatal Four-Way match at WrestleMania 42, it does suggest that, in the right circumstances, former stars can be a driver for storytelling, outside of a one-off appearance reaction.
Fan reaction to the return of stars of yesterday is no doubt a barometer for success, with occasionally notable differences between what may be popular on social media versus what the live audience reacts to at any given venue.
Michelle McCool last stepped into the WWE ring during the 2023 women’s Royal Rumble match, while Layla last competed in a loss to Paige at an non-televised house show back in July 2015, retiring later that month.
Whether there’s a broad desire to bring back LayCool remains to be seen, particularly with the current WWE women’s tag team division seemingly being stacked enough to offer a four-way match at WrestleMania 42.
