A former WWE star has signed a contract through the company’s ID route, putting pen to paper at a recent independent wrestling show.

Previously known as Sloane Jacobs on NXT back in 2022, the star now called Notorious Mimi was signed to her first WWE contract following a tryout

With her time with the company ending in November 2022, Notorious Mimi would reveal that she had another WWE tryout earlier this year.

Mimi has found her path back into WWE following a recent Wrestling Open show, which saw her team with Laynie Luck and Kylie Alexa, taking on Lily Ruiz, Corinne Joy, & Lady Leigh.

In the wake of that match, the official WWE ID Twitter account confirmed that Notorious Mimi was now under contract through the independent development program.

She is now slated to challenge for Laynie Luck’s WWE ID Women’s Championship at the ID Showcase event during WrestleMania week.

The post was accompanied by a photo of Mimi holding her WWE ID contract, with a follow up tweet by the star herself sharing more images and the message “REDEMPTION“.

Mimi also re-shared Beyond Wrestling’s photo of her being “ID’ed” with the caption:

i told you we were so back‼️‼️‼️

That wasn’t the only contract to be issued at Wrestling Open, with Starboy Charlie not only becoming the new WWE ID Champion, but getting his own deal as a result.

The Long Way Round

At just 23 years old at the time of writing, Mimi’s previous WWE run saw her join the company as a 19-year-old competitor, with her new contract leading to an alternative path back into the company.

Teenage stars aren’t unusual in WWE, with the likes of Paige also being 19 upon signing. Mimi’s career after her release has seen her continue to grow on the independent wrestling scene, something that she will be able to utilize to further her career under the ID program.

With Mimi herself noting that she was “excited to show everyone how much I’ve grown” since last being seen on WWE television, her time following her release has seen her compete in Ring of Honor and Major League Wrestling, as well as across the independent wrestling scene, having previously featured on AEW television.

All that exposure gives her a strong standing, having worked in front of television cameras previously and, by extension, knowing how best to present herself, thanks to her past relationship with companies with their own broadcast product, while still being at an age where she has the potential to be molded into the WWE star she could very well be.

Age plays less of a factor in professional wrestling success than mindset, with MJF being a prime example of a younger star who has carved his own direction, yet noting that he was ‘immature‘ in his earlier years in AEW.

WWE ID has been specifically designed to develop independent wrestling stars, many of whom may be younger than those coming through other paths. The program itself likely has inbuilt measures to support the next generation of wrestlers in all aspects of their development, not just what would eventually be seen on television.
