Starboy Charlie has offered a WWE ID Championship rematch to Cappuccino Jones, after recently defeating him to become the new champion.
At Wrestling Open on March 23, Starboy Charlie ended the reign of Cappuccino Jones, snagging both the championship and a WWE ID contract.
With the match now shared on Twitter in its entirety, Starboy Charlie has praised the former champion.
Offering a rematch to Cappuccino Jones when he’s ready, Charlie posted:
“Cap is an absolute beast.
“When you’re ready, come get your rematch. @coldbrewjones”
The rematch will have to wait, with Jones having previously revealed his plans to challenge for the WWE Evolve Championship.
He will challenge for Aaron Rourke’s gold at the April 16 ID Showcase event presented by FSW.
Jones was the inaugural WWE ID Champion, holding the title for 234 days since August 1 of last year at Game Changer Wrestling’s The ID Showcase.
WWE ID Identifies The Stars Of The Future
Launched in October 2024, WWE ID is a platform designed to support independent wrestlers in a potential career as future stars, allowing them to continue to perform across the scene, while benefiting from the mentorship of the juggernaut organization.
With stars being added to the WWE ID system on a regular basis, Starboy Charlie is among the most recent additions, with signings also finding their way onto NXT and Evolve.
Indeed, the current NXT Tag Team Champions, Brad Baylor & Ricky Smokes of The Vanity Project were both brought into the company via the WWE ID route, with fellow stablemate Jackson Drake going on to become the inaugural Evolve Champion.
Under the umbrella of WWE Recruit, the ID program sits alongside NIL (Next In Line), designed to attract elite college athletes, and the regular tryouts system.
Unlike talents signed to contracts through the tryouts system, WWE ID stars continue to work on the independent wrestling scene.
WWE ID isn’t without its critics, with some voices suggested it is just another example of the TKO-owned company threatening the independent wrestling scene by locking stars into contracts, with some noting the impact that NXT UK had. Whether this is the case remains to be seen, as there has been seemingly little of the social media outcry that was seen during the inception of the United Kingdom brand.
Regardless of perceptions, the development program continues to grow at pace, with as-yet-unnamed new WWE ID prospects confirmed for this Wednesday’s episode of Evolve.
