A WWE star’s early departure has now been officially confirmed by the company in a saga that has had another new chapter added to it.
Last month, Ridge Holland announced that WWE informed him his contract wouldn’t be renewed when it was set to expire on November 14.
Despite it not being November 14 yet, Holland is officially gone from the company.
Today, he was moved off the current WWE website roster page and onto the “alumni” section, signaling the end of his time with WWE, ending an over eight year tenure.
The reason for his departure prior to its initially planned date, as previously reported by Fightful Select, was because WWE terminated his deal early because of comments he’d made on social media.
Holland, real name Luke Menzies, has been vocal in voicing his frustrations with WWE’s decision not to renew his deal given the timing of it as related to his recent serious injury.
Working a match in TNA on behalf of WWE as part of the TNA/NXT crossovers, Menzies suffered a serious injury that required surgery, ruling him out of action for at least six months.
WWE opting not to renew his deal at this time means he will have no guaranteed income while recovers and can’t do any physical work until he’s fit again.
Plus, he’s also mentioned he may require neck fusion surgery, which would be another lengthy layoff at the very least.
Menzies had taken a paycut of around $200,000 last year to work in NXT instead of on the main roster.
We wish Menzies all the best going forward.
