With David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, the Hollywood star praised Rhodes and Reigns for their performances in an interview with Soundsphere.

Describing Rhodes as a “highlight” and predicting that fans will “freak out” for Reigns, the star said:

“You can definitely tell everybody that I said that Cody Rhodes’ performance as Guile is going to be one of the highlights of Street Fighter. And when everyone sees what Roman Reigns did as well, they’re going to freak out. It’s a great film. It’s really exciting.”

With recent reports that the two WWE stars were kept separate on the set of Street Fighter, Rhodes has addressed the claims made my Reigns.

Taking The Fight To The Big Screen

Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns have had quite the history in WWE, with the American Nightmare defeating the Tribal Chief to become Undisputed WWE Universal Champion at WrestleMania 40 in 2024.

Subsequently teaming up to take on The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa & Jacob Fatu) at WWE Bad Blood in October of the same year, the pair would reunite, alongside CM Punk and The Usos at Survivor Series WarGames in November 2025.

With the pair cast in the new Street Fighter live action movie, their respective roles place then on opposing sides, with Guile being a heroic military type and Akuma serving as a villian, no doubt closely tied to Dastmalchian’s M. Bison.

The movie marks a return to the big screen for Rhodes, who had a cameo appearance in last year’s The Naked Gun, with previous animated appearances as Stardust in the Scooby Doo and The Jetsons crossovers with WWE.

Reigns has been more active in his movie career, voicing Zebro Zebraxtion (with CM Punk) in 2025’s Zootopia 2, along with a number of supporting roles in projects, including taking on the part of Mateo Hobbs in Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw back in 2019.

Of the pair, Rhodes has had great exposure on television, with the Arrow TV series seeing him in a recuring role as Derek Sampson between his WWE release and the formation of AEW.

Filming for Street Fighter wrapped in November of last year, around eleven months before its scheduled release date, with the video game having seen its first live action adaptation back in 1994 with the Jean-Claude Van Damme vehicle.
