An AEW name has opened up on how current Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes pushed for them to join the company.

While Cody Rhodes currently reigns as the WWE Champion on SmackDown, he was one of the founding fathers of All Elite Wrestling back in 2019.

As an EVP for the first three years of the company, Cody was pivotal in bringing in a number of different names to the company.

Cody Rhodes Pushed For AEW’s Lexy Nair To Enter Wrestling

In an interview with Denise Salcedo, AEW interviewer Lexy Nair recalled meeting Cody and Brandi Rhodes through her stepfather Diamond Dallas Page.

Lexy noted that Cody and Brandi had pushed for them to join AEW as an interview, even though she had other career plans.

She said:

“So my stepdad is Diamond Dallas Page, so there’s that. He pretty much introduced me into the wrestling world, I had no prior knowledge of wrestling or what it was at all.

“Through him I met Cody and Brandi Rhodes and they just saw something in me and they were like ‘hey, would you be interested in interviewing?’ I’m like ‘you guys are crazy, no’. I had a totally different career path and I just kind of pivoted like ‘the universe has put this in front of me, let me just go with it, there’s a reason why this is happening right now’.

“Cody was like ‘you’ll be fine’, if anyone knows Cody, that is so him to just be like ‘you’ll do great, you’ll just figure it out’.

“I was so terrified my first interview I ever did with AEW but it’s a full circle moment, I’m here now, it’s crazy.”

Lexy Nair Met Husband Big Bill Through Stepfather’s DDP Yoga

Cody Rhodes isn’t the only wrestler that Lexy was introduced to through her stepfather Diamond Dallas Page, as Lexy would meet her husband, fellow AEW star Big Bill, when he stayed over for DDP Yoga.

She said:

“Yeah, we’re going back to Dallas, this was before I even got into wrestling, I was pursuing another career.

“Dallas has people over all the time and for the most part they’re older wrestlers, they’re not like young, super cute wrestlers coming to stay with us and do DDP Yoga.

“So I had no knowledge of, our house was a revolving door years ago and so so many people would come and stay with us, and I had no idea who was coming, who was going, whatever, I was living my life and whatever.

“So he came by, and I was in my bathrobe, no make up, my hair was crazy, and I was like ‘you guys couldn’t have given me the 411 that there was this super cute, tall, jacked guy coming and staying with us for the weekend? Are you kidding me?’

“We were friends, I was trying to play it cool, but I was totally thrown off, I ran upstairs, I got ready, I came back downstairs trying to act all cool. We just developed this really great friendship at first, and it ultimately ended up turning into a romance, and we haven’t looked back since, that was almost seven years ago, which is crazy.”
