A former WWE star has become a two-time champion in a recent Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition, competing earlier this week.
Previously known as Baron Corbin, the former WWE star parted ways with the company when his contract wasn’t renewed in November 2024.
Following his departure, he would compete initially as Tom Pestock before becoming Bishop Dyer, currently holding the MLW World Tag Team Championship alongside fellow former WWE star, Dijak.
Outside of professional wrestling, the real-life Tom Pestock is an accomplished Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu martial artist, with quite a record of accomplishments.
Having taken gold in last year’s Pan IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship in two separate categories, Pestock returned this year and walked away as a two-time champion.
Pestock competed in the “Male/Master 3/Purple/Ultra-Heavy” category and noted his success on Twitter in a short video, declaring:
“So, we got it done. Back to back, two time PAN’s champion. Boom”

The former WWE star would also share of photo of himself atop the winners’ podium, with Victor Mccullough in second place, and Alexander Beer & Casey Sims in third.
Representing R1NG BJJ, Pestock has also taken his title-winning ways to the Jiu Jitsu World League, claiming gold in Florida for both 2023 and last year, and claiming silver in the 2024 showing.
The End Of His WWE Days
Signed to WWE in 2012, Baron Corbin’s tenure came to an end after twelve years, with the former King of the Ring winner previously addressing a belief that the company had ‘fumbled the bag‘ by letting him go.
A co-host on Busted Open Radio, it’s clear that Pestock continues to follow happenings over in WWE, sharing an insight that more than a decade of experience in the company has given him.
While he continues to be a fixture on the independent wrestling scene, Pestock teamed with Better Together (Hadar Horvitz & Ori Gold) and Martin Stone, himself a former WWE star, in a dark match at the January 21 AEW Dynamite show this year.
Just 41 years old, at the time of writing, Pestock clearly has the tools to make a WWE return, as he has demonstrated through his multiple independent wrestling showings and through his martial arts endeavors.
Whether Triple H will pick up the phone to approach the former United States Champion remains to be seen, although there are plenty of ways that he could fit back into the WWE product, particularly with part of his final months seeing him team with Bron Breakker and becoming NXT Tag Team Champions.
