With the moment catching the attention of even mainstream media outlets including CNN and Variety, now more information is known about the backstage reaction  inside WWE.

According to a post from Fightful Select, the sources they spoke to in the company “weren’t happy” that Hogan’s appearance was a “common talking point” from the big night.

Sources also noted that the possibility of Hogan being booed was brought up backstage by several people prior to the segment, however, Hogan himself was said to be “surprised and disappointed” by the reaction he received, but would brush it off backstage.

Elsewhere in the report it is noted that the on-air partnership between WWE and Real American Beer is not going to be over.

One source suggested that “they have personally mentioned the idea of using more modern WWE talent,” or a legend to help endorse the product on-air.

In regards to WWE and Hogan potentially leaning into the negative reaction for future appearances, something that was reported as a potential plan by the Daily Mail, one source told Fightful:

“That certainly wouldn’t have been the original plan. We’re trying to sell beer, not get a 70 year old over any way we can.”

That same source noted that WWE would likely consider the context in which Hogan is used on TV going forward after the reaction to his appearance on Raw.
