As it approaches a year since she was last seen, an absent WWE star has revealed that she has been ‘checking out’ a current NXT champion.
Asuka last competed at WWE Backlash in May 2024, suffering an injury that was recently reported to see her miss the upcoming WrestleMania 41.
The absent WWE star recently revealed that she had been “checking out” WWE NXT Women’s Champion Stephanie Vaquer.
The revelation came after it was revealed by Vaquer that she has a cat called “Asuka” after the main roster star.
During a recent interview, which can be seen below this news story, Vaquer also revealed that, up to that point, Asuka didn’t know.
Asuka would react to the revelation on Twitter, revealing that she had been keeping an eye on Vaquer, saying that the NXT star “stood out” before going on to invite her to play games and tour Japan, tweeting:
“I was so happy when I found out you named your cat after me — seriously, that means a lot 🐈❤️
“To be honest… I’ve been quietly checking out @Steph_Vaquer for a while now 👀
“Among all the fresh stars, you stood out — something about you felt special, like you had a big future ahead ✨ (And now? Even more so!)
“You might not be interested (lol) 🤣 but I’d love to invite you to my private arcade 🎮 Let’s play some games!
“I’ll show you around Kyoto, Osaka, and Tokyo too 🗾❤️”
The tweet was accompanied by a GIF that could be construed as reminding Vaquer that “nobody is ready for Asuka.”
The April 1, 2025, episode of WWE NXT saw Vaquer vacate the Women’s North American Championship, bringing an end to her time as double-champion.
Vaquer will now defend the NXT Women’s Championship at Stand & Deliver during WrestleMania weekend against an opponent of her choosing.
NXT Stand & Deliver takes place on April 19, 2025 which is also the first night of WrestleMania 41.
