The latest WWE 24 special has been added to the WWE Network and this time the focus is put squarely on the journeys of Matt and Jeff Hardy.
The Hardys’ demons have been well documented, with very public incidents being the norm for the two brothers during their darkest days. This documentary shines a light on some of the darkest moments in the lives of the Hardy Boyz. Even if you are someone who has followed both men’s careers since 2009, this documentary will show you things you have never seen.
The documentary does not try to sugarcoat the destructive behavior of its subjects. Drug abuse is a central theme in the show and WWE does not shy away from showing Matt and Jeff at their worst. With the inclusion of footage featuring Matt Hardy falling asleep during a WWE interview, both brothers consuming large quantities of drugs and alcohol, and Matt and Jeff discussing casual drug use in a moment filmed during the Hardys’ 2009 run.
The documentary is also noteworthy because of its use of footage from the Hardys’ run in TNA Wrestling. Most notably the footage of Jeff Hardy’s infamous match with Sting at Victory Road 2011. WWE also used footage of the ‘Broken Universe’.
While the special contains many dark themes and real eye-opening moments, the documentary is about hope and is worth the time to watch it. The show is powerful, scary, emotional, honest, and hopeful as you get to witness the fall from grace and the rise from the ashes of one of the most popular teams of all time.
