Two major WWE stars in The Rock and CM Punk are scheduled for tonight’s February 2 edition of SmackDown following the Royal Rumble.
On the January 1 “Day One” edition of WWE Raw, The Rock made his return to the company to confront former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal in an in-ring confrontation.
After Mahal bailed, “The Great One” teased a potential showdown with Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
Meanwhile, CM Punk made his in-ring return in the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble match. Unfortunately, Punk suffered a torn triceps injury that will cause him to miss WrestleMania 40.
PWInsider Elite (via The Wrestle Plug) provided an update, noting that The Rock was spotted at a gym in Birmingham, Alabama and is scheduled to be at tonight’s SmackDown to appear on the show.
As previously announced, 2023 and 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes and Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns will have a face-to-face showdown on tonight’s broadcast.
One has to think that is the reason for The Rock’s appearance on tonight’s episode.
Following his surgery on Thursday, CM Punk is also in Birmingham and is backstage at tonight’s SmackDown.
The report notes that Punk is sporting a brace on his arm backstage following his surgery on Thursday.
WrestleTalk will provide any further news and notes from tonight’s SmackDown when they become available.
