Two former WWE and NXT stars have formed a tag team and are now the World Tag Team Champions in another promotion.
Two of the pushed stars during the early days of the NXT 2.0 era were Xyon Quinn and Odyssey Jones.
After a very brief run on the main roster after being called up in 2023, then barely being used for a year, Quinn was released by WWE in April 2024.
Jones was called up at the same time, and made zero appearances on the main roster for a year, but was then drafted to Raw again in 2024, and started something of a run with New Day shortly after.
However, after allegations were made against him, which he has since fought against, Jones was released in September 2024.
The two have now come together and won the AJPW World Tag Team Championship in Japan today, September 23, 2025.
They defeated the reigning champions Hideki Suzuki and Kengo Mashimo at today’s Giant Dream event at Arena Tachikawa Tachihi in Tokyo.
Suzuki was also in WWE NXT for about a year in 2021 to 2022, under the name Hachiman as a member of Diamond Mine.
Suzuki and Mashimo had been champions since August 3, when they defeated Kento Miyahara and Yuma Aoyagi at Nettou Summer Action Wars.
In other WWE NXT/Japan news, Charlie Dempsey, who himself had a couple of matches in AJPW last year, has traveled to Japan with Harlem Lewis for a run in Pro Wrestling NOAH, where they will face each other on October 4, then team together in an NXT vs NOAH match on October 11.
