A top AEW star is set to be out of action ‘for a long time’ after being taken out on last night’s Dynamite show.

At AEW Revolution, ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm was in action, with her picking up the victory in a match against the Death Riders’ Marina Shafir.

Following the match, Ronda Rousey would make her AEW debut, confronting Storm before the pair would get into a scuffle in the ring, with security coming between the two.

After the match, a rematch between Toni Storm and Marina Shafir was announced for last night’s AEW Dynamite, though the match would end up being changed.

Toni Storm Taken Out On AEW Dynamite

Before last night’s Dynamite went on air, AEW shared a video on social media, which saw Mina Shirakawa finding Toni Storm bloodied backstage, unable to compete in the match.

Instead, Mina took the challenge in place of Toni, defeating Marina Shafir in the no disqualification match, her first singles win on AEW Dynamite in almost a year.

Following Toni’s replacement on Dynamite, there has been an update on her AEW status.

Toni Storm Out Of Action ‘For A Long Time’

In an update on Toni’s AEW status from Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer, it may be a long time until we see Toni Storm again on AEW television.

Per Alvarez, Storm is set to be out of action ‘for a long time’ due to an undisclosed injury or injuries, which is what led to Toni being replaced by Mina in her match with Marina Shafir last night on AEW Dynamite.

The extent of Toni’s injuries have not yet been confirmed, nor has the potential timeline for her return to action.

Who Can Fill Toni Storm’s Spot During Her Absence?

While Toni Storm being out of action is undoubtedly a major blow for not just AEW’s women’s division, but the company as a whole, there are a number of women waiting in the wings who could fill in for her.

Mercedes Mone, who is considered the other top star of AEW’s women’s division, is currently also off television after losing the TBS Championship to Willow Nightingale.

While Mercedes is not currently on AEW television, she has been competing on various independent events in recent weeks, where she has slowly been losing all of the championships she had held.

On top of Mercedes, Mina Shirakawa has been tag team partners with Toni Storm for almost a year, and with her filling in for Toni on Dynamite, we could see her be used in place of Storm for the creative plans the company has over the next few months.

Other good options for women to be elevated up the card include former AEW Women’s World Champions Kris Statlander and Jamie Hayter, as well as TBS Champion Willow Nightingale and new signings such as Lena Kross.
